The end of 2016 has been fruitful and productive. Aquino has played a series of shows and has been included on a few compilations.
End NF: Music for Children’s Tumor Foundation is, “…a wildly eclectic and exciting collection of artists and styles in pop, rock, jazz and blues, all brought together to help promote awareness of (NF)….Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is an under-recognized genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body….NF occurs in one in every 3,000 people and affects millions worldwide.” You can purchase the album and support the cause by clicking the link above. One of the executive producers of the compilation, Tony Donato, will be featured on Aquino’s City Stars. Thank you, Tony!
Songs for Standing Rock, Volume 4 is a part of, “…a collaborative series of albums featuring the songs of artists, songwriters, and musicians worldwide, uniting their voices for awareness in the direct support of our Water Protectors….100% of funds raised will benefit the creation of permanent sustainable winterized geodesic domes, wood stoves and fire wood supplies at Standing Rock.” Head over to the website by clicking the link above and purchase the album. Thanks to the folks at Songs for Standing Rock!
Aquino also curated (and composed a song for) the Thanksgiving compilation Stuff This in Yer Face!, Volume Two for You Don’t Know Jersey. Alice and Ed (YDKJ) have been so gracious and supportive of the project. They look forward to having it rear it’s beautiful head next year. Aquino was inspired by the holiday season and wrote a new song about a sacred Puerto Rican drink, COQUITO! Listen to “You Can’t Take My Coquito Away!” (Click on the link to read the lyrics and liner notes.)
There have been some bumps in the road with the tracking of the upcoming EP City Stars. But no worries! 2017 will see the release. Aquino is proud to reveal the cover for the EP here (see below). It was created by the talented Gene-Manuel Whirling. Aquino sent Gene-Manuel the demos for the upcoming album. He listened and arrived at the inspiration from diverse city architectures from around the globe. As well as stars! Gene-Manuel created a cover that mirrors the tone of the EP perfectly. Thanks, Gene-Manuel Whirling!
That’s all for now. In light of a tough 2016, let’s all put some positive energy into 2017. Happy New Year!
